RADICALLY DIFFERENT THERAPY · OKLAHOMA

Couples counseling for Miami, OK.

Nothing dramatic happened. You still feel alone together.

You are polite. You coordinate the day. From the outside, the relationship may look fine. Inside it, you have stopped expecting much comfort or interest from each other. Quiet distance is a reason to ask for help, even when there is no dramatic event to explain it.

WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE?

When did you stop turning toward each other?

It may be hard to name a beginning. Small attempts to connect were missed, important subjects became tiring, and each of you learned to manage more on your own. Eventually the quiet started to feel like the normal version of the relationship.

We can look at the moments you miss sharing, the disappointment underneath the distance, and what makes reaching out feel risky now. You do not need a loud argument to show that something matters.

No fluff, no BS therapy for relationships that need radical help.

01

Work on the loneliness and loss of connection that can exist in a quiet relationship.

02

If a betrayal contributed to the distance, make room to address it directly.

03

Discuss a fading physical connection and the feelings around reaching for each other.

04

Talk about emotional closeness and how you want to stay engaged with each other.

THE WORK IN THE ROOM

We begin with the small moments you stopped sharing.

I may ask about a recent time you wanted to tell your partner something and decided against it. What did you expect? What did you do with the feeling instead? Those details help us understand how the distance is maintained.

Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, I help you put the longing and disappointment into words. It can be vulnerable to admit you still want more from someone after trying to need less.

We also work with the other person’s response. They may have their own hurt, uncertainty, or surprise at what you have been carrying. I help you stay present for that exchange so the attempt at connection has room to develop.

Wanting more connection is enough to bring into the room.

BEFORE YOU SCHEDULE

Questions about getting started.

Where do we meet if we live in Miami, OK?

Your appointment is at my office in Webb City, Missouri, near Joplin: 2830 Mt. Hope Rd., Webb City, MO 64870. Both partners attend in person at this location.

Are we a good fit if we almost never fight?

You can come because the relationship feels lonely or distant. Conflict can be quiet, and disconnection is worth discussing even when you manage daily life without obvious arguments.

What if only one of us feels lonely?

That difference is something we can explore. I want to hear what connection feels like to each of you and what happens when the person who wants more tries to ask for it.

Can you promise we will feel close again?

No. We can work on understanding the distance and practicing more responsive conversations, but a particular outcome cannot be promised. Both partners’ participation matters.

FOR COUPLES IN MIAMI, OK

You can ask for more than a relationship that looks fine.

Bring the loneliness, even if you cannot explain exactly when it started. We can begin with what you miss and what happens when you try to reach each other.
