We can explore what commitment looks like to you, how you handle disagreement, and what makes a subject difficult to raise. There is room for excitement and uncertainty in the same conversation.

THE WORK IN THE ROOM
We pay attention to how you handle the difference.
Learning that you disagree is useful. What happens next tells us even more. Can you stay curious? Does one person give in quickly? Does the conversation become a test of whether you should be together?
I use Emotionally Focused Therapy to help you understand those reactions and the worries underneath them. We can work with the need for reassurance, the fear of disappointing your partner, or the difficulty of asking for something different.
The aim is to make the important conversations more honest and workable. We can practice expressing a preference, hearing a concern, and staying connected while a difference remains unresolved.
A difference is something to understand before it becomes a recurring fight.
THE OFFICE
Make time to attend together in Missouri.
Engaged and committed couples from Columbus, Kansas, can meet with me at my Webb City, Missouri, office near Joplin. Both partners attend in person.
Sessions are 100–110 minutes and cost $180. The same office and format apply to premarital work and the other couples services described here.

Where do we meet if we live in Columbus, KS?
Your appointment is at my office in Webb City, Missouri, near Joplin: 2830 Mt. Hope Rd., Webb City, MO 64870. Both partners attend in person at this location.
Can we come even if we rarely argue?
Yes. Premarital therapy can be a place to examine expectations and discuss subjects you have not explored together yet. A crisis is not a requirement.
What if we are committed but have no wedding date?
You can still come for couples work. The questions about your future and expectations can matter whether or not a wedding has been scheduled.
Can faith be included in premarital sessions?
Yes, when requested. We can talk about what faith means to each of you and how you want it included. A faith-neutral approach is also available.
